Just a bit of bragging on my boys
I just thought everyone might like to know that not only did Tom make yet another batch of wonderful Basque Chicken tonight, but Bear also likes it. We chopped up some and let him taste Basque Chicken. It was the best he'd eaten all day. It was even a little bit on the spicy side. Well, to me anyway, but I am the world's biggest wimp when it comes to spice. Apparently Bear is not. He is obviously part of this family as a fan of Basque Chicken. Only problem with the stuff... We all eat too much of it.

Cold again, both the temperature and the malady
I guess winter isn't done yet. It is back down to about -8 F. We had warmed up to almost 50 degrees F a couple weeks ago. In fact the only snow we had left was where the snow plows had left a big berm. Other than those few piles it was bare ground again. We had a skiff of snow over the weekend and then the cold front moved in. Brrrrr...
I don't mind the cold other than the fact that Bear has a cold right now. We aren't sure if it came from someone at Disneyland or on an airplane. Doesn't really matter. Babies being sick are not fun. The simple fact that they can't blow their noses makes it pretty bad for both them and mom. Add that to the fact that now you aren't supposed to give them any sort of cough medicine. It is just a humidifier, plenty of rest, and plenty of liquids. Basically the same for anyone's cold. It is still frustrating to see such a little person feeling bad.
Finally I'll leave you with a few more photos of our Disney Adventure...

The latest
I'm realizing it has been awhile since I updated everyone on Bear's progress. We had a wonderful visit with Tom's sister and her fiance (congrats again you two) over the New Year weekend that was also Tom's birthday. Bear really opened up and discovered giggling as presented in the video posted a week ago. Now he is discovering that he can scream. I'm not sure I like this particular development. Luckily right now it isn't loud, but he does it fairly often. I really am not fond of it when he's in bed with me at 6 am and doing it to play. It is hard to even think about being mad though. He's just too dang adorable. I am not a morning person, but Bear sure makes it easier to be happy in the morning.
In addition to Bear getting to spend some time with family around Christmas and New Year he had his 6 month check up and vaccinations. All is well. He weighs about 18-20 pounds. Tom and I aren't too sure about the way that particular nurse weighed him since the arm was still bouncing around and she had it on 19 pounds but said he weighed 18 pounds. I guess all they are concerned with now is that he is gaining at a steady rate. Not a problem there. He's right about 27 inches long. He is a very tough kid when it comes to getting his shots. He cries while he gets poked, but it doesn't take long once they are done to quit. It is usually less than 5 minutes and he is done. Granted it doesn't take much at that point to make him cry again, but he doesn't just keep going. This time the one thing that really made him cry was getting him to hold still so the doctor could look in his ear. I think he has been taking lessons from Buddy, his dog, or something.
Let's see... The other news from here is that Tom is off for some more training this next week. He'll be in S. CA this time. While he's gone my mom will come up and help with Bear. This is when I really don't like working full time. It is nice to get to see my parents though. I've been more and more in favor of being a stay at home mom here lately. I wouldn't have a problem with working full time if Bear didn't get more and more fun everyday. He keeps learning new things and being more social. He is a fun kid to hang out with. I love travelling with him. He makes everyone around us smile.
I'd best get my bread going while Bear is napping. I can't imagine he'll sleep for too long this morning. He's pretty full of it. He got up initially at 5:30 am and wasn't too excited to lay back down.
