About Me

My photo
I used to be aircraft mechanic and now I'm a homemaker. I love to garden, play with my kids, hang out with my husband, bake bread (some is good some isn't), travel, and eat.

Kiddos

It has been some time since I updated everyone on the kids growth etc.

Mia: 30 inches tall, 25 pounds, still only two bottom teeth, and her hair is growing out slowly but nicely.  She says, "Thank you, bye-bye, Momma (finally!!), Buddy, Barrett, and Dad."  Of course she doesn't pronounce them that well but we can tell what she means a lot of the time.  She is starting to sign please and more as well.  I'm trying to think if there is any food she doesn't like yet.  Besides baby food that is.  Hmmm...nope.

She loves olives and gets very grumpy at Tom if he has them on pizza and doesn't share.  Her favorites seem to be olives, basque chicken, putanesca, tuna sandwiches, mandarin oranges, bananas, and chocolate.  I know, none of these are baby food.  We have never been able to get her to eat much baby food.

Miss Mia is getting to be quiet the personality as well.  Heaven forbid her brother want to share Mom or Dad.  He is also in big trouble if he touches her some evenings.  I think for better or worse she got the red-headed temper.  We'll have to help her figure out controlling that.

Bear:  42 inches tall, 40 pounds, and crazy man.  He not only is my crazy clown kid but he seems to be showing signs of being an incredibly sweet empathetic person.  For not being a very cuddly baby he is very cuddly now.  Loves hugs and snuggles.  He loves to hang out and do things with us.  We have a great helper with anything.  He is great about putting dishes in the sink and clearing them out of the dishwasher.

Bear is one of the greatest big brothers.  He is such a help with his little sister.  Sometimes it is just turning on a light I can't quite reach and others it is helping to calm her down so she quits crying.  He'll sing to her and tell her it will be okay.  Today at lunch I was trying to get her to say/sign please.  She wouldn't.  Bear says, "I know how to get her to say please."  So I tell him, "Okay, get her to say please."  He looks at her and tells her to say please.  She parrots please back to him while signing it almost immediately.  Siblings are amazing.

Nightmare

Bear has nightmares. Generally he doesn't tell us what they are but the other morning about 4 a.m. he woke up crying.  I went in to see what was wrong and he tells me, "I was eating breakfast with the chipmunks."  So I asked him why that was scary.  Then he tells me, "I want my pancake back."  So I asked where his pancake went.  His answer?  "The girl chipmunk ate my pancake, and I want it back."

So hard not to laugh at a story like that but he was so upset about loosing his pancake to the girl chipmunk I couldn't.
